Festivals of the Dead Project –  

There are 2 lantern events happening this year in Lister Park on Friday 30th October 2026 and in Northcliffe Park on Saturday 14th November.

The noisy Lister Park parade will gather on the steps outside Cartwright Hall from 4.30pm with the parade setting off at 5.30pm. Live music from Peace Artistes, Drum Machine and Banda na Rua will happen before, during and after the parade with a finale by the Bandstand. Cartwright Hall galleries will be open late and there will be a quieter space inside Cartwright Hall for those people who would prefer to experience the parade in a different way.

A more reflective and quieter event will happen in Northcliffe Park from 5pm, meeting at Cliff Wood Ave from 5pm, where the parade will set off at 5.30pm. This is a memorial parade which will have space for people to remember loved ones. We will have live music from Paedar and the Peace Artistes.
